I was teaching a VMware ICM (Install Configure and Manage) last week, one of my delegates told me about his home lab and that he disliked the little warning symbol next to his host informing him that he had enabled shell access.

We agreed that this was quite important in that warnings are there for a reason, however he wanted to turn off or supress that icon.

I said. “Don’t worry we can turn that off.” Here’s how.

Login to you vSphere Client.

Go to Hosts and Clusters View.

Highlight your host > Configuration > Software > Advanced Settings

Find the section UserVars and then scroll down and locate UserVars.SupressShellWarning and then set the value to 1
